Journeyman/woman Electrician

Since its founding in 2009, Otter has grown into a full-service solar provider and has expanded its services to include Project Development, Operation, Maintenance and Financing. Otter is seeking a full-time Journeyman/Woman Electrician that is passionate about energy and sustainability. The ideal candidate is an Electrician with a background in solar or electrical system design. The ideal candidate must also want to be part of an entrepreneurial and growing team, who is able to be hands on, and who strives to take ownership over what they do.

The Journeyman/Woman Electrician will work closely with the Operations Teams to support all technical aspects of project delivery from concept/proposal through to final completion. The Electrician will play an essential role in supporting and implementing the design, permitting, construction and commissioning of commercial and residential solar systems.


  • Install electrical wiring, conduit and systems on construction projects
  • Troubleshooting electronic systems and conducting preventive maintenance programs
  • Understand the requirements of solar system design and utility interconnection
  • Liaising with clients, vendors, and other electricians
  • Perform project closeout, including electrical system testing
  • Participate in the equipment selection and procurement process
  • Use and understand electrical single line diagram and installation details
  • Being comfortable with new and retrofit projects
  • Application of regulations to area of expertise and ensuring compliance
  • Incorporation of safety and risk analysis into equipment designs
  • Electrical power and distribution systems design to support other disciplines/departments/offices
  • Tie in solar installations to main service panels
  • Utilize knowledge of A/C and D/C systems
  • Works within the a team environment to complete project assignments
  • Administration duties/ tasks as required and all other duties as assigned

  • Ability to bend, lift, twist, reach
  • Ability to lift 50lbs on a frequent or repetitive basis
  • Knowledgeable of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and possesses a strong safety focus


  • Journeyman/woman license required
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license


  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs on a frequent or repetitive basis
  • Comfortable with traveling to job sites across Ontario
  • Safety equipment will be required

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday
