General Labourer/Solar Installer

Otter Energy is one of Ontario’s largest and most established solar energy companies, with its roots in solar project construction and maintenance. Since its founding in 2009, Otter has grown into a full-service solar provider and has expanded its services to include project development and financing. Otter is seeking full-time Solar Installation Technicians that are passionate about energy and sustainability. The ideal candidate is someone who wants to be part of a growing team, who is able to be hands-on, and who strives to take ownership over what they do.

Solar Installation Technicians are responsible for the construction of the mechanical portions of the solar generating systems. This work takes place at various locations within the GTA and throughout the province. As such, successful candidates will have to be comfortable with working away from home through the workweek.


  • Lifting and transporting solar panels and other necessary materials
  • Capable of working in an efficient, safe manner outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Material Management
  • Fastening aluminum racking systems to support the solar modules
  • Handling and fastening the solar modules to aluminum frames
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment
  • Attention to detail when completing tasks
  • All other duties as assigned


  • Ability to work well in a team environment

  • Must be a self-starter, self-motivated, and willing to learn and follow instruction
  • Ability to have fun while staying focused on completing your tasks
  • Ability to safely lift and carry materials 50lbs and over on a frequent or repetitive basis
  • Work comfortably on construction sites in various weather conditions and environments
  • Ability to stand, bend and twist for long periods of time


  • Minimum 1-year general labor experience
  • High school diploma
  • Working at Heights certificate
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license & vehicle is MANDATORY
  • D Licence or higher and Boom Truck Operator Ticket an asset

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $16.00-$20.00 per hour
Schedule: 12 hour shift
