Otter is seeking a full-time Operations and Maintenance Journeyman/woman Electrician that is passionate about energy and sustainability.

As an Electrician, you will gain essential knowledge and exposure to all areas of the business. The ideal candidate is someone with a background in solar or electrical system design, who is able to be hands-on and strives to take ownership over what they do.

JOB SUMMARY:

The O&M Electrician will work closely with the Operations team to support all technical maintenance. You will also play an essential role in supporting and implementing the design, permitting, construction, and commissioning of commercial and residential solar systems. This electrician will be visiting various sites to conduct maintenance, and troubleshoot systems.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install electrical wiring, conduit, and systems on construction projects
  • Troubleshooting electronic systems and conducting preventive maintenance programs
  • Understand the requirements of solar system design and utility interconnection
  • Liaising with clients, vendors, and other electricians
  • Perform project closeout, including electrical system testing
  • Participate in the equipment selection and procurement process
  • Use and understand electrical single line diagram and installation details
  • Being comfortable with new and retrofit projects
  • Application of regulations to the area of expertise and ensuring compliance
  • Incorporation of safety and risk analysis into equipment designs
  • Electrical power and distribution systems designed to support other disciplines/departments/offices
  • Tie in solar installations to main service panels
  • Utilize knowledge of A/C and D/C systems
  • Working within a team environment to complete project assignments
  • Additional duties as required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Time management, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn new skills, such as solar system design and site analysis
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of the solar industry and/or solar design software is considered an asset
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently, make decisions and take responsibility for technical matters
  • Have excellent problem-solving, trouble shooting and decision-making skills
  • Ability to bend, lift, and twist as well as the ability to lift 50lbs on a frequent or repetitive basis
  • Knowledgeable of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and possesses a strong safety focus
  • Self-motivated and a strong team player
  • Ability to travel within the province and to work away from home for the workweek

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Journeyman/woman Electrician license required
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license
