Executive Assistant

Caitlyn Salley joined the Otter team in 2021 as our Executive Assistant. With her background as a law clerk, Caitlyn brought valuable experience and skills in accounting and administrative documentation to Otter. Her expertise quickly led her to take on additional responsibilities throughout the company, including day-to-day accounting, licensing, software maintenance, and all administrative duties. Caitlyn’s contributions have been instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of all things at the Otter!

Jason is a respected sales and business development leader and trainer who has worked internationally in executive positions in a variety of industries, including green energy and cleantech. Jason brings deep experience in sales, marketing, and business development to the Otter Team and prides himself on finding savings for clients in solar and other energy solutions.

Meg Thompson

Project Coordinator

In 2022, Meg embarked on her journey with us as an administrative assistant, quickly ascending to the vital project coordinator position in our residential division. Her remarkable work ethic, natural organizational abilities, and boundless passion for solar energy fueled her rapid advancement.

Serving as the primary liaison for clients, Meg adeptly coordinates all facets of their projects, guiding them through a seamless journey. Whether managing administrative tasks or liaising with regulatory agencies for permits, Meg’s meticulous attention to detail and proactive stance guarantees that each client’s requirements are fulfilled with utmost efficiency and professionalism.

Tyler Blower

President

Tyler became captivated by renewable energies while completing a B.A at Simon Fraser University. This helped to direct a career path focused on renewables, and by 2009, Tyler started Otter Energy to service the Ontario, Canada marketplace.

Since 2009, Tyler has been focused on building a vertically integrated Solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) firm. Our belief is that the only way to provide the highest level of quality is to build a team that can execute all aspects of the project. Within this framework, Otter will develop, design, engineer, construct, commission and provide ongoing Operation and Maintenance of these solar generators. That has been the vision behind creating the best solar firm in the Ontario Marketplace.

Peter Vogel

Director of Business Development

Peter is a seasoned solar professional with a decade of senior-level experience delivering complete solar solutions in both the US and Canada; he’s all about saving clients money on hydro and generating lasting economic and social value for their businesses.

Gurpreet Kooner

Director of Operations

Gurpreet’s been active in the Solar industry since 2015 and has played a vital role in the design and construction of over 500 rooftop solar projects – totalling 150mW+ of construction. Gurpreet brings vast experience to all phases of solar projects – from engineering to construction to commissioning and closeout. Teamwork, site safety and operational excellence are Gurpreet’s focus daily.

Daren Crawford

Senior VP, Sales

Daren is a results-driven solar sales professional with over 23 years’ experience in Business Development, New Product Development, New Market Development, and Large Account Management. Before becoming Ontario’s best known solar sales expert, his background was in packaged retail, bulk municipal and industrial markets.

Dave Van Kerrebroeck

VP, Sales Management

Dave is passionate about renewable energy, especially solar. He loves being on the cutting edge of the modern economy and the energy transformation. His role is to build and maintain a healthy sales force including, recruiting, training and day to day work on client projects alongside his team of solar advisors. He has a long track record of building sales-driven companies.

Tim Marsden

Design Manager 

I graduated into the Robotics and Automation field in 1994. Since then, as many do, my job titles and responsibilities have served away from my initial schooling. This roller coaster of varied experiences have led me to the renewable energy field, specifically Solar (which I truly enjoy). I have spent my last 10 years experiencing all of the many facets of this exciting and fast paced field which include designing, monitoring, troubleshooting and the occasional teaching. Working with the ever growing Otter Energy family is always rewarding and electrifying.

Don McKay

Financial Controller

I’m excited to be able to apply my extensive senior accounting skills to such a dynamic company as Otter. While living in Mississauga, I worked as the Financial Controller and later as an Operations Manager in several manufacturing settings. Over time, my experience expanded to include the wholesale trade, construction, and solar panels. Moving to Belleville thirty years ago was a good choice for work and for family. In my spare time, I write books.

Fraz Khan

Fraz Khan is one of our dedicated HR leaders shaping a positive workplace. With proactive approaches, he empowers our team through talent acquisition and employee development, fostering a harmonious atmosphere. Beyond work, Fraz spends his time playing hockey and spending time with family.

Alex McKinnon

Construction Manager

Alex started his solar career in 2013 after graduating from Guelph University. Alex is the anchor that grounds the construction teams and acts as a mentor to the many junior and senior supervisors. Alex’s strong solar background and overall construction intelligence enable him to ensure many projects can operate in parallel while ensuring the same level of quality from each of these.

Anthony Pagniello

Project Manager

Anthony graduated from York University in 2021 with an Honours Degree in Communications, and began working in the Solar industry in the Spring of 2021 as a project coordinator. Anthony joined Otter as a Project Manager for Residential Installations in the Summer of 2023, and has overseen close to 100 installed projects so far. He enjoys working closely with clients and guiding them through the installation process and technology.

Mark DeRoia

Electrical Engineer

University of Windsor graduate and Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer for 35 years. Experience in design, team leadership and program management in highly demanding aerospace and naval environments. Experience in designing automated filtration systems for military ships and repairing and overhauling aircraft electrical and hydraulic components. Experience in commercial and residential solar system design and installations.

Rashed Safi

Sr. Supervisor

Rashed started working in solar back in 2014. He joined Otter Energy in 2017 where he was quickly taught about the “Otter Way”. Rashed learned quickly and be 2020 started working as a Junior Supervisor before moving into the Sr Supervisor role.

Peter Briceno

Sr. Supervisor

Peter started working with Otter Energy after completing a mechanical engineering degree plus an energy systems engineering diploma. Peter’s drive for excellence and his educational background led him to be the leader of choice on many large commercial solar projects.

Zach has proven to be a natural leader with a high level of attention to detail. Zach maintains a strong understanding of solar construction and the ability to execute well constructed projects for our clients.
